Seville was the original seat of the Spanish crown and is one of Andalusia's most historic towns. Gateway to the Andalusian plains, the city offers fine dining, excellent accommodation and lots to see and do.

El Centro is the livelier centre of modern Seville, centred on the Plaza de San Francisco and Calle Sierpes. Since 1785, the Archivo de Indias has been the main archive of Spain's American empire.
Along the Río Guadalquivir you will discover the Plaza de Toros (Bullring) de la Real Maestranza, one of the oldest (1758) and most famous in Spain, on Paseo de Cristóbal Colón.

Christopher Columbus' tomb can be seen in the vast cathedral (the world's largest by floor space) and, across the square, the Alcazar Palace is quite beautiful. King Alfonso, and later Queen Isabella, ruled from the Palacio de Don Pedro (within it) and the grounds feature excellent examples of Moorish decoration and a magnificent tropical garden.
The medieval Juderia (Jewish Quarter) is a maze of winding streets and charming plazas and is known as the Barrio de Santa Cruz. Plenty of pensione, bodegas, tapas bars and other restaurants are located here. A fine place to watch the world go by is the grand Plaza de Espana, with fountains and parklands out front.

A few kilometres north of Seville, was the first Roman town in Spain, Carmona, located in the La Campina region.

There are many lovely villages to be discovered in Andalusia and day drives from Seville will yield many new experiences. The world-famous Alhambra in Granada and historic Cordoba are a few hours' drive away. You can even go to the Algarve (about five hours away) or possibly plan a day trip to Gibraltar.
