Arrecife harbour is full of small boats, mostly for fishing, but many to be hired for pleasure. There is a lock that separates the harbour from the Atlantic breakers. The quay side is a favourite strolling are for locals and visitors. Many street cafes for oyour favourite sweet strng coffee and a glass of brandy. One of the finest pleasures of a Spanish holiday.
Care needs to be taken in the narrow streets as the traffic can be very close. The streets are often very narrow and the traffic comes at you from all directions. There are some lovely shops and the people are respectful and considerate.
The town's fort is an excellent attraction - especially for the children. It is small and compact with cannons poking out with traditional belligerence. The fort is approached by an impressive causway that provides a pleasant promenade at dusk to walk off the paella and oozo with the lapping of the breakers and the setting sun - beautiful!
For those with a panchant for guided tours, there are sites seeing tours arranged - so we are told - but we failed to find one and walked tretty much all the town looking for the guide! It was even better fun than an organised trip. We thought our stay here was a reall treat and will come again.
